I thought they were introducing an asymmetrical skirt, but I dont see that in your photos. Looks similar to traditional design (CP pictured below), with drilled reliefs in the lower ring slot -- I do note less skirt area on the JE with less meat toward the center of the piston. Seems like it could make it more noisy, depending upon skirt length. JE machining appears to be more rough cast, less refined, but maybe design is a way of lightening the part?
